It was beautiful here last week. With our opposite travel schedule and crappy weather, I hadn’t been on the boat in weeks, so I insisted we take it out a few times. We took the dogs out for one short afternoon adventure. Clyde took his first swim in open ocean. By open ocean I mean a rough chanel in Casco bay. He definitely wanted to get right back on the boat, but he did great, and the life jacket worked like a charm. Ruby was not interested at all.

Food highlight of the week was lobster mac n’ cheese made by yours truly. I have been working on my mac n’ cheese recipe for a while, but this was the first time I have ever added lobster to it. Mr. Man raved about it, and he is not usually a fan of mac n’ cheese. It paired perfect with that lovely french rose.

We drove down to Kennebunkport to watch our friend swim a one mile ocean race. He placed 8th, out of 28, which I think is pretty amazing. I have spent very little time in this area. The main street was very quaint, and the coastal homes were picturesque New England. I would say I’d love to go back soon, but the accessibility is challenging. There is zero public parking at the beaches. I guess the locals like it that way, and although it sucks for me as a visitor, I can’t say I blame them.

I made many of these fruit platters, along with cheese, antipasto, crudite and sandwich platters. Our catering business has been booming, which is awesome. No matter how many I do, the fruit is always my least favorite. Naturally customers love them.

Me and the man on our boat. A pastime I love, and a moment I treasure.

Took the dogs to the beach on my day off. They got a new toy. Ruby loved fetching it. Clyde preferred exploring the beach and meeting all the other people on the beach. He is such a social butterfly, and she is only about her people. It is so funny how similar and completely different they are.
People keeping saying the word ‘fall’. Today in my book, that is a dirty word. Knock on wood fast!! Don’t say it. I’m not ready. I want this time of year to last forever.
