52/19: Misty Moments

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of weather.” -John Ruskin

Since living in Maine, I have really grown to love all of the seasons. Perhaps it is because I spent a decade in Los Angeles, or that I grew up with seasons and missed them terribly without realizing it. Whatever the cause. I love them. All of them.

This winter we got buried in snow. It was glorious, and awfully reminiscent of my childhood and teenage years spent in Tahoe. I got a teeny bit closer to my goal of being a ski bum, and enjoyed the extreme cold with ease. This weekend we got a dose of weather, but this storm brought us rain, and it was a sight for sore eyes. To hear the large drops of water against the roof, and hear the stream in our backyard rushing. I half expected this first rainfall to wash away all signs of winter, but it is still cold, and it will be a while before all the snow and ice are gone. Although I am hoping the snow sticks around the mountains a bit longer, so we can enjoy some spring riding, I am fully ready to say goodbye to the snow in my yard. I am ready for green grass and sunshine.

The dogs are also ready for a seasonal change. They seem confused, the air is getting warmer, but the ground it still covered in cold white stuff. Since it was a scorching 42 a few days ago, I decided to bring my camera while getting them out of the house. I set up my tripod with this wall as the backdrop and began to play around with my umbrella. The dogs included themselves in most of the shots. They ran around me and checked me out from above. I could have never gotten them in these shots if I tried. Sometimes things just work out like that.

I love the result, and I am so happy to have these fun shots with my pups.
