52/12: A New Day

A new year marks on the calendar a new beginning for us all. We make resolutions, and commit to changing what needs it with unwavering conviction. Some people see it through, but for many, myself included, the days wash the words away, as we re-commit to our comfort zone, and the bad habits it may encompass. Then comes the guilt for not being successful, for not being a super human who can change and become a completely new and improved version of ourselves once the clock strikes midnight. Our lack of follow through plunges us in the deep end of the other side of the pool.

Our need to hold on to the new year as the only or perfect time to make big change is unnecessary. While it is a clearly defined time on our day planner to make a move, we get a new start each and everyday. It is said that the only way to make real change, and big things happen is with consistent effort. So it actually makes more sense to approach each day as a brand new start. If you have already failed at your resolutions, open the curtains at dawn and witness the new beginning in front of you.

Commit to today, and today only.
