Fairytale’s in Friday Harbor

My short trip to the Pacific Northwest began with some time with my dad in Seattle, and culminate with a wedding on the San Juan Islands.

As I waved goodbye to my father and brother at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, I boarded the second largest boat I had ever been on in my life. Destination: Friday Harbor Washington.

Friday Harbor is the largest town in the San Juan Islands, located on the island of San Juan.  The archipelago that makes up the San Juan Islands is accessible only by boat or plane.  The ferry system provides access to the the four largest islands. There is a total of 172 islands in the archipelago, some little more than rocks with over 300 miles of shoreline. The islands are located between the coastline of northern Washington and Vancouver Island.

The bride and groom have spent a lot of time exploring this area, and absolutely love it. It is easy to see why. The geography is beautiful, and the next amazing ocean vista literally just around the corner. The island is full of beautiful farms, that creates a wonderful food culture full of great pride in what is produced on the island. Although, destination weddings can be stressful to get to, upon arrival you realize, that the location of the wedding is a gift to the guests.

The theme of their wedding was a Super Collision Fairy Tale. It was breathtaking. I am honored that I was invited to be a part of the union of these two remarkable stars.

These two share a love that is rare. It is an example of how two people should love one another, and an example of what is possible when you surrender yourself to love. Together they form one, while still maintaining their unique perspective and personality. They compliment each other, bring out the best in one another…and are just plain fun to be around. Together they are truly a force of nature. I can’t wait to see the family they create, and all of the fabulous things they accomplish together. Go Team Best.

The bride captured this intimate moment with my phone. I have never been so happy that I forgot my phone. Thank you for the precious momento.

The fairy tale was complete with lots of wonder and whimsy, and ended with a disco collision dance party. So much fun. Connected with old friends, and made new ones. You can usually judge the character of a person by the company they keep. These two are surrounded by extraordinary people.

Beautiful nature, solo adventuring, friends and dancing. It was a great weekend, and I will never regret making the trek.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories, and for reminding me that happily ever after is real.

XO- Nicki
