A Boat Rescuing Adventure

I spent the rainy holiday weekend catching up on some much needed cleaning and organization projects. So monday afternoon we decided to get out on the water and enjoy a little bit of fresh air before the work week. Despite being incredibly windy…it was a beautiful day on the water, and no one else was out.

Some friends invited us to join them on their new boat for it’s maiden voyage. We decided to follow rather than join them, because we are still learning our boat and could use every opportunity to get comfortable with it, especially together.

I rode on the bow for the first time. A little different being so close you can actually touch the water with you feet. I gotta wet, and confirmed that bow riding is still a favorite past time.

We followed them down to the Falmouth Sea Grill, which is an absolutely beautiful place to enjoy a cocktail or an ice cold beer on a clear day.

On our way back to the harbor, their engine blew. So sad for them, and so thankful we took our own boat. We roped up together, and towed them back. Our voyage was far longer than a 3 hour tour. It turns out towing a larger boat is slow going. I am glad we were able to get them safety back because you don’t want to be dead on the water heading into the night.

One of the coolest parts of the adventure was these Canada Geese. They were making their way out of the tide and leaving some awesome tracks.

In the end, we helped out some friends, and our reward was being on the water at sunset. We would not have been out that late otherwise. The winds died down, and it was perfectly calm. The view stunning. Our little boat handled like a champ too.
