Lurking in the Tall Grass

Our fall has undoubtedly been amazing, and no one seems to be enjoying it more than my spoiled free range pit bulls. Perhaps they know that soon they will not want to go outside for anything in the whole wide world, and potty time will be frozen foot torture. But I doubt it. They just love to be outside chasing squirrels through the fallen leaves. I can barely drag them inside when nightfall rolls in at the WAY to early hour of 4:30pm.

Each time winter seems to creep in with cold frosty nights, the days are quickly filled with warm sunny rays. It has come to the point where I think I am completely ready for the snow (someone please remind me if this statement circa mid February). I am ready to hunker down, work on home projects and have early lazy evenings. The dogs on the other hand are enjoying every last bit of autumn.  Life is simple for them. I envy that. They run and play when the can. They nap often and they stare at the same tree for hours, hoping that maybe a critter will make a move. They are fully present. There is no checking of cell phones, email or facebook. They’re daily to-do list is comprised of play, sleep, food and attention. I believe  we could all use more play in our daily lives, and most likely more naps and attention too.

So get out there, ditch your list and play. And when you get tired from all that play and laughter..take a nap and give some attention to those that you love!
